On February 19, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) alumna Sharon Yixuan Li was named a recipient of the 2025 Sloan Research Fellowship by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. This year, 126 early-career scientists across seven major disciplines were recognized, including 28 scholars of Chinese descent.
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Cell magazine recently launched a special feature titled “50 Scientists that Inspire,” honoring 50 outstanding scientists worldwide who drive innovation, transcend disciplinary boundaries, and inspire future generations. One of the outstanding scientists is Jiawei Wang, a 1999 graduate of the School of Life Sciences and Biotechnology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU).
