March 5, 2025— Dean Vivek Venkatesh and Assistant Professor Zhao Pengfei from Faculty of Education, McGill University, visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) for an exchange meeting to explore academic collaboration. The event was hosted by CEN Yuhao, Assistant Dean of SOE. Professor WU Jingyi, Vice Dean CHIANG Fengkuang, Dean Assistant CEN Yuhao, and International Affairs Officer CHEN Ruoxi attended the meeting.

The meeting began with introductions from both sides. CHEN Ruoxi outlined the history and current status of SOE, emphasizing its integration with the university’s "Double First-Class" disciplinary strengths. She highlighted the faculty’s well-established academic system in higher education management and basic education research, noting that 85% of full-time faculty members possess overseas research experience. Recent breakthroughs in AI-driven educational applications and education policy analysis were also underscored.

Dean Vivek Venkatesh of McGill University showcased his institution’s distinguished profile. McGill is one of Canada’s oldest English-language universities, and its Faculty of Education consistently ranks among the nation’s top three in QS rankings, with global influence in teacher education and medical/clinical education. The faculty currently enrolls over 2,000 students and has produced numerous provincially certified outstanding educators.

The two parties then discussed potential collaboration frameworks, tentatively agreeing on initiatives such as student exchange programs and joint teacher training projects. Both sides expressed optimism that cross-regional and cross-cultural educational partnerships could address shared challenges in global education reform.
