Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) began to offer postgraduate education in 1931, and established the Graduate School in 1984. Upholding the SJTU tradition of “high starting point, solid foundation, strict requirement, emphasizing practice, and pursuing innovation”, the Graduate School cultivated various kinds of excellent talents to meet the needs of the country. As of spring 2021, 80,861 Master's or doctoral degrees have been awarded to its graduate students.
Each year SJTU admits students from nearly 100 countries, and more than 7000 international students are studying on campus. Its 33 colleges and schools offer more than 100 graduate programs to international students. The study duration for master’s programs is usually 2-3 years (full-time), and 4 years (full-time) for doctoral programs.
