Two distinguished faculty members from the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University have been recognized among the "World's Top 2% Scientists 2024" by Stanford University and Elsevier. Professor Jun Pan, SAIF Chair Professor of Finance and Chair of Faculty Council; and Professor Feng Li, Deputy Dean and Chair Professor of Accounting, were selected for the "Lifelong Scientific Influence List" in Economics and Business. This marks Professor Pan's sixth recognition and Professor Li's fourth consecutive appearance on this prestigious list.
The annual ranking, now in its seventh edition, utilizes Stanford University's comprehensive evaluation system based on the Scopus database. The assessment incorporates multiple standardized metrics, including total citations, h-index, modified hm-index, and a composite indicator (c-score). Scientists are evaluated across 22 fields and 174 sub-fields to ensure objective measurement of academic influence.
About Professor Jun Pan
Dr. Jun Pan is a Professor of Finance and SAIF Chair Professor at the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Before joining SAIF in 2019, Professor Pan held prestigious positions at renowned institutions, including the School of Management Distinguished Professor of Finance and Professor of Finance at the MIT Sloan School of Management. She was also a fellow at the National Institute of Economic Research in the United States.
Professor Pan's research fields encompass asset pricing, financial derivatives markets, credit risk models, financial crises, market liquidity, market microstructure, risk management, fixed-income markets, and China's financial market. She has published more than 20 high-level academic papers in prestigious international academic journals, including Econometrica, Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, and Journal of Financial Economics. In 2022, Professor Pan was selected for Elsevier's list of "China's Most Cited Scholars."
Professor Pan serves as an editor at the Review of Finance and an associate editor at the Journal of Finance. In recognition of her outstanding research contributions, she received the SAIF Faculty Academic Research Award in 2022.
Professor Pan has received numerous awards and honors throughout her career, including the Luise Meyer-Schutzmeister Award for American Women in Science (1995), the Jaedicke Fellowship at Stanford Graduate School of Business (1996-1997), the Lieberman Fellowship at Stanford University (1998-1999), the Western Illinois University Alumni Achievement Award (2001), the First Prize in The Chicago Quantitative Alliance Annual Academic Competition (2003), and The Stephen A. Ross Prize in Financial Economics (2015).
About Professor Feng Li
Dr. Feng Li is a Chair Professor of Accounting and the Deputy Dean at Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He also serves as the Executive Director of CAFR, and the Co-Director of SAIFR. Prior to joining SAIF, Professor Li was the Harry Jones Associate Professor of Accounting with tenure at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business, University of Michigan. At SAIF, he has held leadership roles, including Deputy Dean for Non-Executive Programs (2016-2018) and Director of the Finance MBA Program (2015-2018).
Professor Li's research interests primarily focus on financial statement analysis, the application of deep learning in financial analysis, asset pricing, and risk management. He has published over 20 articles in leading academic journals, such as the Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting and Economics, The Accounting Review, Management Science, and Journal of Financial Economics.
