On October 26, the International Advisory Board Meeting 2024 of Antai College of Economics and Management (ACEM), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) was held at the Xuhui Campus. 12 distinguished representatives, including presidents of renowned universities, deans of leading business schools, business education experts, and multinational corporate executives, attended the meeting to review the college’s development and provide strategic advice for its future growth.
The meeting was attended by prominent figures including Prof. Andrea Sironi, President of Bocconi University; Prof. Bodo Schlegelmilch, Dean of WU Vienna University of Economics and Business; Prof. Catherine Duggan, Dean of UCT Graduate School of Business; Prof. Dan Leclair, CEO of Global Business School Network (GBSN); Prof. Danica Purg, President of CEEMAN; Prof. Eric Cornuel, Director General & CEO of EFMD; Prof. Jikyeong Kang, President of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM); Prof. Jörg Rocholl, President of ESMT Berlin; Prof. Kenneth McPhail, Dean of the Alliance Manchester Business School; Prof. Léon Laulusa, Executive President and Dean of ESCP Business School; Prof. Sergey Myasoedov, Vice-rector of RANEPA University and Dean of IBS Moscow; and Mr. Shane Tedjarati, Founder of Tribridge Group and former President of Honeywell Global High Growth Regions. Mrs Paddy Tang Lui Wai Yu, Executive Director of K. Wah International Holdings Limited and Galaxy Entertainment Group Limited, member of the 12th and 13th Shanghai Municipal Committee of CPPCC, and member of the board of trustees of SJTU, expressed her support through a written message.
The meeting was also attended by ZHOU Cheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of SJTU, along with ACEM leadership Dean CHEN Fangruo, Party Secretary JIANG Wenning, and other college officials including TIAN Xinmin, YU Leng, LIU Shaoxuan, ZHU Xi, SANG Dawei, GUO Fei, and QU Xi. QU Xi moderated the session.
In his welcome address, ZHOU Cheng highlighted SJTU’s and ACEM’s commitment to international collaboration and acknowledged the crucial role of the International Advisory Board Meeting in the college’s development. He encouraged the participants to share their international perspectives and expertise to guide the college’s future direction.
Dean CHEN Fangruo presented a comprehensive report on the college’s development, outlining its 40-year journey since re-establishment. He detailed achievements in various areas including vision and mission, discipline construction, industry research, faculty development, talent cultivation, international cooperation, and alumni relations. He emphasized the college’s future commitment to combining theory with practice, focusing on industry research and financial technology, and advancing international cooperation to become a world-class business school with Chinese characteristics.
The distinguished guests commended ACEM’s recent achievements and engaged in in-depth discussions on AI transformation and technological trends, talent cultivation and curriculum design, high-quality faculty development, innovation and entrepreneurship, and international development strategies.
Since establishing its first Advisory Board in 1991, ACEM has maintained three successive boards until 2020, benefiting from the guidance of hundreds of world-class business school deans and renowned entrepreneurs. Adapting to developments in the new era, the college launched the International Advisory Board Meeting in 2021 as a platform for international exchange and strategic guidance. This year’s meeting, coinciding with the 10th International Business School Shanghai Conference (IBSSC), specifically focused on gathering insights from international academic leaders and business experts for the college’s future development and internationalization.
Looking ahead, ACEM remains committed to expanding its international collaboration network, promoting Chinese management theory and practice, and contributing to the advancement of global business education.
