A press conference for the first series of "Frontiers Books on Global Humanities·Shanghai Jiao Tong University" and an academic forum on global humanities were held in Shanghai on March 4th.

The release of the first series of "Frontiers Books on Global Humanities·Shanghai Jiao Tong University" is not the end but the beginning, and the brand of Shanghai Jiao Tong University will continue to pay attention to the frontiers of humanities and social sciences research and constantly introduce new excellent works, according to the organizer. The theoretical concept of "global humanities" was presented by Wang Ning, Dean of School of Humanities, Institute of Arts and Humanities of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Director of Chinese Literature and Art Review (Shanghai Jiao Tong University) Base and chief editor of the books. As he indicated,"global humanities" is not a simple sum of literature, history and philosophy as well as other disciplines of countries in the world;instead, what it seeks are topics of universal significance such as global culture and global modernity, and Chinese humanists should make their voices heard on issues that are common and of great concern to China, the world and the whole of humanity.
