The 24th Academic Exchange Seminar between Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Osaka University was successfully held on November 29. The seminar was jointly organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Osaka University. The Opening Ceremony and Smart City Session was organized by School of Mechanical Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

 

 

Professor HUANG Zhen, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Dean of College of Smart Energy of Shanghai Jiao Tong University andProfessor Genta Kawahara, Vice President of Osaka University delivered the welcome speech. Prof. DAI Yanjun from School of the Mechanical Engineering chaired the Seminar. The parallel session on materials science, joining and welding, information sciences, naval architecture and ocean Engineering, industrial biotechnology, chemistry, combustion engineering, and smart city studies were introduced at the Seminar.

 

On Smart City Session, SHI Taofeng from Shanghai Municipal Development & Reform Commission, Prof. ATA Shingo from Osaka Metropolitan University gave keynote speeches on urban energy planning in Shanghai and Osaka, smart city construction, and the impact of the epidemic on urban planning. Participants from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Osaka University delivered academic reports on new discoveries in frontier fields such as smart energy, disaster prevention, and smart data and smart transportation, smart digital transformation.

 

As an important platform for inter-university cooperation and academic exchange, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Osaka University had held regular academic exchange seminars since 1995. The seminar is hosted by the two universities in turn once a year and promoted the effective academic cooperation in multiple fields. The seminars have continued to consolidate and expand the achievements of the exchange and cooperation between the two universities, promoting the continuous improvement of the research level of both universities. Scholars, experts and graduate students in the fields such as materials science, joining and welding, information sciences, environmental science and technology will be invited to attend the event.
