Recently, Prof. Zhou Bin from the School of Humanities at SJTU received a letter of gratitude from the Permanent Delegation of China to UNESCO for his efforts in the promotion of Chinese calligraphy and culture.

The 13th “UN Chinese Language Day” fell on April 20th this year. In order to celebrate the 2022 UN Chinese Language Day, the Permanent Delegation of China to UNESCO invited Prof. Zhou Bin to create a calligraphy work with the words “Chinese Language: Together for a Bright Future”. His work was also used in the poster and invitation letter of the celebration. The celebration was successfully held at the headquarter of UNESCO in Paris, France on April 20th, and attracted more than 100 attendees, including representatives from some 70 permanent delegations to UNESCO and UNESCO officials.

As an expert in calligraphy, Prof. Zhou Bin has been committed to the international spread of Chinese calligraphy and culture. He is also the founder of the United Association of Calligraphy, a United Nations NGO program. He has already published a series of books to help promote Chinese calligraphy and culture, including the new book A Creative Course in Calligraphy for HSK Basic Chinese Characters which was launched on April 20th, 2022.
