Dean Chen Fangruo of Antai College of Economics & Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University was invited to attend the 1st Nobel Sustainability Trust Bergen Summit hosted online by Nobel Sustainability Trust (NST),. As the only representative of the university in China, he served as a guest of the roundtable forum to discuss the hot topics of sustainable development that have attracted global attention.

With the theme of "Sustainable Future", this summit was initiated by Michael Nobel, Chairman of the NST, and combined online and offline meetings. Experts, scholars and business leaders from China, Britain, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, France, Germany, Japan, Austria and other countries conducted extensive discussions on the importance of protecting natural resources and ecological environment, promoting the coordinated development of the global economy and nature, and establishing the Nobel Prize for Sustainable Development.

Dr. Michael Nobel said that the Foundation has always been concerned about the destruction of the earth's important non-renewable resources by human beings and believes that the development of human society largely depends on the recycling of energy.

Dean Chen Fangruo focused on the sustainable development of business education and expounded the significance of establishing the Nobel Prize for Sustainable Development. He emphasized that the award is a great initiative to promote global awareness and innovation for sustainable development, and to foster global leadership on global issues. He also said that sustainable development of business education should start from two aspects, one is to train future business leaders, and the other is to grasp the forefront of sustainable development research. Sustainable development is inseparable from business practice and business model innovation, which requires the cooperation of technology and management. Now, new questions and theories need to be raised, and big data, artificial intelligence and decision science need to be addressed. His views were confirmed by Dr. Michael Nobel.

The Nobel Sustainability Trust Foundation was incorporated in 2007 by members of the Nobel family in Zurich, Switzerland. It was formerly known as the Nobel Charitable Trust and was renamed the Nobel Sustainability Trust (NST) in 2011. Currently, the board of directors of the foundation is composed of 5 members of the Nobel family.

The mission of the NST is to promote a sustainable economic growth, protect and ultimately improve the life systems on the earth, create opportunities for people, combine human intelligence to forge a future of shared prosperity.
