The research group led by Meng He from SJTU School of Agriculture and Biology accomplished the two-year drawing and analysis of the world's first whole genome sequence of Bactrian camel.

On Nov. 13, their research result was published on Nature Communications (DOI: 10.1038/ncomms2192). Meanwhile the renowned biobank GenBank released the camel genome data to the world for the first time.

The Nature website reported and commented on the same day on this event with the article "Bactrian camel genome holds survival secrets". It also posted the relevant photo at an eye-catching place.

Later the ScienceNet, News Auzoom, Agence France Presse (AFP) and other media reported the research. The project group was composed of 33 affiliations including Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, CAS, and Nankai University, etc.
