UNIDO Representative Visited SJTU-UNIDO Joint Institute

On the afternoon of April 16, Ms. Tonilyn P. Lim, the general representative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in China, and Ma Jian, the deputy representative, visited SJTU-UNIDO Joint institute of Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development. Huang Zhen, SJTU Vice President and Chairman of the Institute, Hu Jin, Acting Dean of the School of International and Public Affairs, Geng Yong, Vice Dean of the School of International and Public Affairs and Executive Dean of the Institute, and Zhao Xiaolei, Co-Dean of the Institute joined the investigation together.


Huang Zhen, on behalf of the university, first congratulated Ms. Lim on being appointed as the new representative of UNIDO in China and expressed gratitude to the UNIDO for its care and support for the Institute. He looked forward to closer cooperation between SJTU and UNIDO and jointly establish a green economy benchmark with global influence in the changing international situation.


Geng Yong introduced in detail the construction of the Institute and its current research results. Since its establishment, the Institute has cooperated with UNIDO ITPO Shanghai to conduct field research and data collection throughout the country and establish a sustainable technology application center. At present, more than 10 students have been recommended to the center for internship.

Ms. Lim expressed her gratitude to SJTU for its attention and support, and highly affirmed the research achievements accomplished by the Institute. During the visit, Ms. Lim and her entourage visited SJTU School History Museum. Through a wealth of cultural relics, photos and other materials, they went through the history of SJTU and the fruitful achievements of the teaching and research over a century.
