Wu Jingyi is a female of Han nationality. She was born in February 1963 and joined the Communist Party in December 1985. She is a Ph.D., professor and doctoral supervisor.

She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Mechanical Engineering Department of SJTU in 1986. After receiving a master’s degree in 1989, she stayed to work in SJTU. She was promoted to associate professor in 1994. She received her Ph.D. degree in refrigeration and cryogenic engineering from SJTU in 2000 and won the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation nomination award in 2003. She was promoted to professor in 2000. In 2007, she became the deputy dean of Mechanical and Engineering School of SJTU. She acted as secretary of the party committee of Mechanical and Engineering School in 2012 and the director of Academic Affairs Department in June 2014. She was appointed the vice provost of SJTU in April 2018.

She is the principal lecturer of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and her "refrigeration device and automation" course has won the excellent course in Shanghai. More than 60 doctors and masters have been instructed by her. One doctoral thesis under her guidance was awarded the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation nomination award in 2009. She has won three second prizes of National Teaching Achievements, one special prize and three first prizes of Shanghai Teaching Achievements.

She is mainly engaged in the research of aerospace thermal environment and controlling, energy utilization and environmental controlling in refrigeration and air conditioning and other aspects. She held many scientific research projects, including sub-projects of project 973, the National Natural Science Fund projects, the National 863 project, the aerospace technical reform project, Shanghai Shu Guang Project, Baosteel research project, etc. More than 140 papers have been published in core journals at home and abroad, of which more than 70 have been published in international journals. She has won the second prize of National Natural Science Award and National Technological Invention, the award of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress and the first prize of Shanghai Natural Science Award. She has nearly 40 invention patents, many of which have been converted.
