Genuine Knowledge Comes From Practice

As for me, the most precious treasure that I have acquired during my graduate study period is the practice experiences in major-related fields. As early as I first stepped into SJTU as a graduate, I knew that I could not only bury myself in books. I’ve always been reminding myself that genuine knowledge comes from practice. Therefore, not only did I study carefully the knowledge in classes, but also, I participated in several projects, in which I could use the knowledge that I have learned to make contribution to product invention and development. Looking back to the years that I spent in SJTU, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to this university, which cultivated me, and provided me with so many opportunities.

About Him

  • 2011/06-2014/03: Master of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Mechanical Engineering (CIMS)
  • 2007/09-2011/06: Bachelor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Electrical Engineering and Automation
  • 2007/09-2013/09: Academic Excellence Scholarship of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (twice)
  • Postgraduate Student Excellent Scholarship (twice)

Qi Mingdong, as a science student majoring in Mechanical Engineering, has really rich research experiences. For example, from September 2012 to October 2013, he took part in the SJTU-SGMW “Two-micron Precision Engineering2um” key project—Development of digital precise measure device for engine combustion chamber. In the process of research practice, Qi Mingdong applied the knowledge he had learned to innovation and creation, and acquired precious experiences which cannot be obtained in class and from books. His other research experiences include being the Primarily developer in the development of Three-dimensional Measure device based on Line Scanner, and SJTU-SGMW “Two-micron Precision Engineering2um” key project—Development of optical precise measure device for engine crankshaft.

Besides rich research experiences, Qi Mingdong also practiced in companies to bridge his way from the campus to the work field. During the years as a graduate, he experienced three internships in SJTU-Schneider Joint Laboratory, in Siemens (China) Co. Ltd., and in SGMW Automobile Co. Ltd. During the internships, he could combine his expertise knowledge with real working skills, thus, made a solid foundation for his future career.

During leaning and practice, he accumulated some very useful skills and cultivated some abilities. His language proficiency in English can be proved by his high marks in CET-4 and CET-6. Also, his computer skills are revealed by Computer Level 2(C++) and Computer Level 3 (Network).
