Prof. Liu Yingbin’s team from the General Surgery Department of Xin Hua Hospital and the Institute of Biliary Diseases Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanghai Research Center of Biliary Treat and Shanghai Key Laboratory of Biliary Diseases (under construction) made another major breakthrough in research about primary gallbladder cancer. On June 29, this team’s latest research result was published in the internationally-renowned academic journal the GUT (Impact Factor: 17.016), titling “Genomic ERBB2/ERBB3 mutations promote PD-L1-mediated immune escape in gallbladder cancer: a whole-exome sequencing analysis”. Its new discovery about the immune escape mechanism of gallbladder cancer has provided a theoretical basis for treating gallbladder cancer through combining targeted therapy with immunotherapy.

This research was finished based on concerted efforts from teams led by Prof. Liu Yingbin, Associate Prof. Liu Yun of Pudong Hospital Affiliated to Institutes of Biomedical Sciences Fudan University, Prof. Liu Houbao’s team of Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University, Prof. Zhou Weiping and Prof. Jiang Xiaoqing’s team of the Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital and Prof. Liu Chang’s team of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University.
