Sino-US "New Silk Road Explorers" Band Comes to SJTU

On the evening of May 5, 2017, the Sino-US "New Silk Road Explorers" band came to SJTU and their "The Moon Reflected In Er-quan- Folk Music and Jazz Night" concert was held at SJTU. This concert can be seen not only as a combination of dulcimer and jazz, but also a Sino-US folk music and jazz audio-visual feast. Vice President Zhu Jian attended the concert.


The Sino-US "New Silk Road Explorers" band is compromised by the member of the National Committee of CPPCC, professor of Central Conservatory of Music, famous Chinese dulcimer and educator Dr. Liu Yuening. There are also other participants including professor of Valparaiso University, and composer Dennis co-serving in the Sino - US Musicians Union Band.

The concert carried out a cross-border music culture tour between Chinese and American artists, hoping to share and exchange music culture for the audience to understand the contemporary China from various angles. The artist's novel repertoire, rich professional knowledge, superb playing skills, as well as wonderful improvisation greatly enriched the art language of the instrument dulcimer. In the new period of cooperation between China and the United States, it brings new vigor and vitality and composes a new chapter in Sino-US cultural and artistic exchanges.

 

During the concert, the artists from afar have also set aside time especially for interaction with students of SJTU, who have actively raised questions on the music arrangement and performance. At the end of concert, the audience burst into thunderous applause. Zhu Jian came onto the stage and took group photos together.
