Prof. Uwe B. Sleytr Appointed as SJTU Advisory Professor

On the morning of May 25, the ceremony of appointing Prof. Uwe B. Sleytr as SJTU advisor was held in Shuhua Multifunctional Hall, Life and Pharmacy Building. Prof. Uwe B. Sleytr is member of Austrian Academy of Sciences, The New York Academy of Sciences and European Academy of Sciences and Arts, head of the Biological Nanotechnology Center of University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna. SJTU Vice president Wu Dan attended the ceremony. Zhang Xuehong, vice dean of School of Life Sciences and Technology presided over the ceremony.

Prof. Sleytr is committed to studying the combination of nanotechnology, Nano biotechnology and bionics, especially the intensive study of the application of functional supramolecular structure assembly in life and non-life area, making great achievements.

On the ceremony, Wu Dan presented the appointment letter and SJTU school badge to Prof. Uwe B. Sleytr.

Present were Prof. Xu Ping from School of Life Sciences and Biotechnology, Prof. Zhang Shuguang from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Dr. Ed Gerstner, the executive editor of Nature Communications.
