The First “One Belt One Road” China-France High Education Seminar was Held

On the afternoon of December 10th, at Education Department of Chinese Embassy in France, the first "One Belt One Road" China-France High Education Seminar and "Paris Institute of Technology (ParisTech) Alumni Forum", which were co-organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) Alumni Association in France, ParisTech China-France Friendship Association and Chinese Scholar and Student Association (CSSA) in Paris. Minister counselor of the Embassy in France, Zhang Jie, who is the President of SJTU, Wang Bin, who is the President of SJTU Alumni Association in France, and several Chinese and French distinguished educationalists were present at the forum. At the seminar, the handover ceremony of the third president of SJTU Alumni Association in France was held. Huang Xiaowei took the post of the new president, and Wang Bin held the office of the Chairman of Adversary Group. In his speech, Wang Bin said that China-France High Education Seminar was held so that Chinese and French educators could share their experiences and innovation could be made in SJTU Alumni Association. The Minister counselor said that France was one of the destinations of "One Belt and One Road", and France and China should promote their cooperation in education, since they share the same goal of talent cultivation.

"One Belt and One Road" China-France High Education Seminar was hosted by Ji Ning, Professor of University of Paris-Sud. Jacques BITTOUN, who is the President of University of Paris-Sud, Edouard HUSSON, who is the Vice President of University of Vincennes in Saint-Denis, Zhang Jie, the President of SJTU and Xu Xuemin, the Vice President of SJTU had a round-table discussion concerning high education and talent cultivation. They discussed around the topic of building a world-class innovative university, and talked about the transition of SJTU in the future.

At the seminar, Yu Jin, the Dean of SJTU-ParisTech Elite Institute of Technology, introduced the cultivating mode and talent recruitment plans of this elite institute. This institute was established in 2013, to which French President Hollande bore witness to, and is run by SJTU as well as Ecole Polytechnique, Mines Paristech, Télécom Paristech, and ENSTA Paristech. At the seminar, President witnessed the handover ceremony of the council of SJTU Alumni Association in France. The new President is Huang Xiaowei, a 2011 SJTU graduate, who is currently working at CAC40 Company SOLVAY. Huang is also an engineer at Arts et Métier Paristech and IFP School, and has a double-degree of Master of Engineer and Master of Energy Economics and Management.
