The winner list of the 2020 Contemporary Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling (CUMCM) was revealed recently and SJTU students won the “CNKI Research Prize” (chances of winning: 0.0024% ) for the first time, which is one of the 3 highest prizes in CUMCM. It is also the first time that SJTU and Shanghai division have won this prize. After winning the top prize “Higher Education Press Prize” in 2018, SJTUers won another top prize of CUMCM this time, which makes the university one of the only five universities that have won 2 CUMCM prizes in the past 28 years since its establishment. This marks a historic breakthrough in SJTU’s participation in this high-prolific competition.

In recent year, SJTU students have made great achievements in CUMCM and MCM, which showed their strong competitiveness in putting theory into practice. It is a result of the systematic training and sound preparation the students had obtained in SJTU programs. This also demonstrates the effectiveness of the university’s strategies of “Studying at SJTU” and prioritizing scientific and technological innovation.
