SJTU Team Made Progress in Vibrational Modes in Two-dimensional Amorphous Solid

On July 10th, the paper titled with "Experimental studies of vibrational modes in a two-dimensional amorphous solid" was published on the Nature Communications. The first author of this paper is Zhang Ling,doctoral student from School of Physics and Astronomy and research institute of Natural Science Research Institute. Co-authors include doctoral student Zheng Jie, Wang Yinqiao, researcher Zhang Lei from Natural Science Research Institute, Prof. Jin Zhaohui from School of Materials Science & Engineering, researcher Hong Liang from  Natural Science Research Institute and Prof. Wang Yujie from School of Physics and Astronomy. The paper demonstrated their newest progress in the research of the nature of boson peak in two-dimensional disordered granular system.

This research firstly measured the statistical mechanics of internal affine in amorphous materials and spatial distribution of non affine moduli through experiment, which made significant contribution to the further understanding of statistical laws of acoustic waves in amorphous solids.
