SJTU Prof. Dai Kerong Awarded Foreign Corresponding Member of Académie Nationale de Médecine

As academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and the director of Shanghai Joint Surgery Clinical Medical Center, Professor Dai Kerong of the Ninth Affiliated Hospital of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine recently left for Paris to attend the awarding ceremony of corresponding member of Académie Nationale de Médecine. Professor Dai won this honor for his contribution in the field of artificial joint, biodynamics, and related clinical medical research areas.

Académie

The awarding ceremony was held at the annual meeting of the Académie Nationale de Médecine, and four representatives from the Chinese Embassy in France witnessed the moment. Académie Nationale de Médecine was founded in 1820 as the top authoritative institute in the field of French medical policy and popularization of medical knowledge.

Professor Dai Kerong graduated from Fudan University Shanghai Medical College in 1955, and is now the lifetime professor of the Ninth Affiliated Hospital of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and the director of Shanghai Joint Surgery Clinical Medical Center. He is the first in the world to use shape memory alloy in the human body and achieved innovative fruits in the field of assessment of gait and body balancing function, basic research of artificial joint and so on. Also, he was awarded many awards and titles, such as the corresponding member of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and so on.
