SJTU Chairperson Ma Dexiu and President of ParisTech Cyrille van EFFENTERRE signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation in building "SJTU-ParisTech Distinguished Engineer College". The signing ceremony was held in the French Ministry of National Education, Youth, Higher Education and Research on January 30, 2012.
The agreement was signed to kick-start the joint training on distinguished engineers between SJTU and ParisTech.
Ekki Maillard, Director of the Cabinet Office of the Ministry met with the delegation led by Ma Dexiu and extended warm welcome to their visiting. He said the Ministry has always attached great importance to the education and research cooperation with China. The MOU marks an important step taken by China and France to jointly foster excellent engineers.
Ma Dexiu congratulated the substantive cooperation between SJTU and ParisTech. She held that the cooperation has a realistic significance in guiding since all countries in the world promote international education strategy. The College will fully rely on the engineer elite education system of France and the national reform pilot "Distinguished Engineer Education Training Plan" of SJTU and promote Sino-France communication and exchange on education, research and culture through multi channels for the win-win situation.
ParisTech, founded in 1991, stands for the elite education system for French engineers, grouping eleven of the best French engineering schools and one business school. ParisTech covers a wide spectrum of disciplines and its graduates contribute their talents to wide-range engineering fields, which makes them quite popular in industry and business.
To introduce world-class educational resources and comprehensively promote substantive cooperation in school running with top international universities are the important starting points for the internationalization strategy of SJTU's 12th Five-year Plan.
