SJTU Delegation Visited America, Canada and Japan

Lin ZhongqinSJTU President and Deputy Secretary of the University Party was invited to lead a delegation to visit Japan, Canada and America from July 19 to 28, 2017.The delegation visited University of Toronto, Northwestern University, Purdue University and University of Michigan, further promoting international cooperation. Meanwhile, they visited Japan SMC Industries Ltd to discuss how to promote the education.

In University of Toronto, Lin Zhongqin met with President Meric Gertler, Vice President Ted Sargen and others. They signed the joint doctoral program agreement. According to the agreement, SJTU and University of Toronto agree to conduct the program, during which students can be guided and trained by the supervisors from both sides, and can be awarded the single joint doctoral degree once recognized by both sides.

During the visit to Purdue University, Lin Zhongqin and the delegation met with President Mitchell Daniels and Academic Dean Jay Akridge et al. They discussed with each other about the strategic cooperation plan of both sides. The cooperation will be conducted in science and research, joint doctor training and talent exchange.

In University of Michigan, Lin Zhongqin and the delegation met with President Mark Schlissel. They looked back in the cooperation history between two schools and also looked forward to the future cooperation possibilities.

Lin Zhongqin also gathered with SJTU alumni in Toronto and Chicago, looking back on the 121 years hard-working history of SJTU together with them.

On July 20, Lin Zhongqin and the delegation visited the Chairman of SMC corp,the honorary doctorate and honorary trustee of SJTU, Yoshiyuki Takada and senior management staffs in the company.
