SJTU Achieved 4 Awards at the 2016 National Science and Technology Award

On January 9th, the 2016 National Science and Technology Award Conference was held in the Great Hall of the People. Party and state leaders Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Liu Yunshan and Zhang Gaoli attended the conference and presented prizes to the winners. On behalf of the CPC Central Committee and State Council, Li Keqiang delivered a speech at the conference. The 2016 National Science and Technology Award was given to 279 projects, seven scientific experts and one international organization. Among them, there are 2 State Supreme Science and Technology Award winners, 42 National Natural Science Award winners, 66 National Technology Invention Award winners, 171 National Science and Technology Progress Award winners, five foreign experts and an international organization were given the People's Republic of China International Science and Technology Cooperation prize.

There are 4 results of which the SJTU are as the first completer unit were praised by the Party Central Committee and the State Council. Among them, there are one National Natural Science Award Second Class, the winner is Liao Shijun, two National Technological Invention Award Second Class, the winners are Huang Zhen and Zhu Xiangyang and one National Science and Technology Progress Award Second Class, the winner is Li Qingfeng.

Brief introduction of awarded projects:

1.Homotopy analysis method in solving the strongly nonlinear problems in Mechanics and its application

This project was independently completed by Professor Liao Shijun from School of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Civil Engineering and was awarded the National Natural Science Award Second Class.

2.Key technology and application of compression ignition engine based on fuel diversification

This project was completed by Professor Huang Zhen from School of Mechanical Engineering and was awarded the National Technological Invention Award Second Class.

3.Artificial prosthesis and the reconstruction of neural information channel

This project was completed by Professor Zhu Xiangyang from School of Mechanical Engineering and was awarded the National Technological Invention Award Second Class.

4.Innovation and application of critical repair techniques for severe burn in head and face

This project was completed by Professor Li Qingfeng from Ninth People's Hospital, School of Medicine and was awarded the National Science and Technology Progress Award Second Class
