“Democratization and the Middle Class in China” by Prof. Chen Jie Published in PRQ

Dr. Chen Jie, Zhi Yuan Chair Professor of SJTU, and accredited professor of "Cheung Kong Scholar Program", gets his paper "Democratization and the Middle Class in China: The Middle Class's Attitudes toward Democracy" published in Political Research Quarterly (PRQ), an international authoritative political journal, the 3rd issue in 2011. This is the first time that a domestic professor publishes his paper in an international authoritative political journal as the first authorship. It signifies that the SJTU's research level of politics subject has reached the international frontier.

Chen Jie is Accredited Professor of "Cheung Kong Scholar Program" introduced by the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). He doubles as the executive director of SJTU Center for Public Opinion Research and is an internationally famous political scholar, whose specialty is quantitative research. He now serves as Dean of the College of Graduate Studies at University of Idaho and the chief editor of an academic journal Modern China Studies.
