Prof. Fan Xianqun’s Team Discovered New Target for Retinoblastoma Treatment

Prof. Fan Xianqun's team from Department of Ophthalmology, Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital Affiliated to SJTU School of Medicine identified and named a new long non-coding RNA, Retinoblastoma Associated Transcript-1 (RBAT1). It can achieve remarkable therapeutic effects in Patient-Derived tumor Xenograft by using GapmeRs, which provides potential targets for the clinical treatment of retinoblastoma (RB). The research result was published on the website of Molecular Cancer (IF=15.302) on July 15.

Through multicenter retrospective cohort study of RB and prospective randomized controlled study, Fan Xianqun's team found that super-selective interventional chemotherapy of ophthalmic artery can significantly improve the eye protection rate and the treatment of RB.
