In the history of human development the quest for new materials combining beauty and function has captured our imaginations and fundamentally changed our lives. I will describe my journey in the discovery, invention, and development of the largest classes of porous crystals whose structures are stitched and weaved into frameworks (MOF/COF/ZIF) of unparalleled beauty, diversity and multiplicity. These materials are the most studied worldwide and are useful in clean energy, water, food and health.
