SJTU– ParisTech Elite Institute of Technology (SPEIT) brings together the strengths of leading French Grandes Ecoles (Ecole Polytechnique, Mines ParisTech, Telecom ParisTech, ENSTA ParisTech) and of Shanghai Jiao Tong University to educate high-potential Chinese and international students to become industrial leaders and innovators with:
SPEIT enrolled its first students and got the accreditation of the Chinese Ministry of Education in 2012. In 2013 the institute was inaugurated by the President of the French Republic, Mr. François Hollande. In 2015 it got the accreditation of French Commission des Titres d’Ingénieurs and EUR-ACE: SPEIT graduates are awarded French titre d’ingénieur, which is internationally acknowledged as an equivalent to a Master in Engineering Science.
Our curriculum blends the characteristics and requirements of French engineering training with those of Chinese engineering education. Students are offered a 6.5-year curriculum that includes intensive French language training.
The first 3-year fundamental cycle is supervised by experienced French professors. It combines the scientific background of engineering schools with a multicultural approach.
The first academic cycle, modeled on the French Prépa education, is led by a team of selected permanent French teachers in residence, and Chinese teachers with international education background and experience. Over 60% faculty of this cycle are international professors.
Specifically, the courses in this cycle are composed of French language, French culture, fundamental scientific courses (mathematics, physics, chemistry and computer science, etc.), English, Humanities and intercultural conferences.
The next 3.5-year engineering cycle combines common core courses, elective scientific and technical courses in 3 different majors, as well as humanities, economy and management.
The teaching in this cycle is carried out in a close collaboration between visiting professors from the four French schools, permanent faculty of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and experts from the industry.
The three majors:
Close Relations with companies
Close collaboration with companies is a key feature of the French engineering curriculum. It includes scholarships, jointly organized activities, lectures, company visit, internships, student innovation contests.
